Harvest Spice

Harvest Spice
Orange Grove Quilters
2017

This is the Orange Grove Quilters Guild 2017 Opportunity quilt. It used parts of a donated kit,new blocks and a redesigned border. 18+ members worked on this quilt.
I was the coordinator of this venture and it was a  fun project. As with group endeavors, time kept getting slipped back and when it was all together we were a month later than I had planned. With deadlines looming , I put it on my longarm and quilted for several days straight.
There is a lot to quilt on this and I wanted a cohesive design fitting the style. Traditional  elements  like feathers, crosshatch and pearls were chosen to enhance the piecing.
The applique blocks were so expertly done by members and looked beautiful with a freehand fill of feathers and pebbles. Matching thread to the background really makes the applique the star!

Hobbs 80/20 batting and So Fine, Micro Quilter and Omni threads were used.
I am thankful for the chance to quilt  this beauty.
