Christi's Glacier Star

Isn't this a thing of beauty?  It's the Glacier Star pattern by JudyNiemeyer.  Pieced by Christi K  who did an excellent job from the fabric selection right through to the construction!
Center detail
This pattern is very detailed and usually completed in sections with a series of classes to help you along. Christi attended a workshop over several days and got a really good start on this. She was able to finish it quickly.
Star points and Flying Geese
Christi wanted a softer look in the quilting. Not a lot of spikey angles, more feathers and swirls.
I used a combo of patterns and did pebbles around the Flying Geese that circle around the quilt  so they would pop.
Stitching in the Ditch around the piecing is what can really add to the cost of quilting these quilts because of the time it takes. There are a lot of pieces!! It really makes the quilt look good! We decided to SID major elements, but not all, depending on the quilting designs used.
So Fine thread in Billins Blue,Pastel Blue, Gerbera, and Pearl, Microquilter in Cream for the center and fills around the Flying Geese blocks and a green/turquoise  Geyser, for the  outside border.
Hobbs 80/20 batting
Back
This was pure fun to quilt! I had a blast doing this. I have done one Judy Niemeyer quilt myself and want to start a new one. This has really inspired me to get going!  First , though, I have to quilt my Amish with a Twist 3.
